“Summer Camp Boy Scout Chaplain for Tomahawk Scout Reservation near Rice Lake, WI”
The Protestant Committee on Scouting seeks a Boy Scout Chaplain to serve at Tomahawk Scout Reservation from mid June to mid August 2011.
COMPENSATION: Monetary honorarium for the summer camping season, in addition to board and room, specific transportation and uniform allowances. BOARD & ROOM: Private residence (newly remodeled and updated) and meals provided at Tomahawk.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS OF A SCOUT CHAPLAIN:
Scouting experience preferred.
Serve youth and their adult leaders in a camping environment.
Maintain mature views on the place, function and purpose of religious values in life.
Demonstrate an ability to cooperate and get along with other camp staff.
Have and show respect for the religious convictions of others.
Serve as a counselor.
Able to relate to youth and adults in friendly and creative ways.
Able to communicate effectively with youth and adults.
Able to lead a Protestant worship service effectively.
Guide campers in their own spiritual growth.
Participate in a paid camp chaplain-training program prior to the summer camping season and staff training program the week prior to the start of camp.
JOB DUTIES:
o To conduct worship services (vespers, devotional times, weekly services…etc) as scheduled by the reservation director.
o To counsel scouts, adult Scouters and staff as needed – (homesickness, moral issues, conflicts,spiritual nature, medical emergencies…etc.)
o To personally visit as many units as possible.
o To answer all emergency codes if possible.
o To personally visit the health offices daily.
o To promote Chaplain, Chaplain-aide training.
o To promote the religious emblems award program.
o To deliver emergency messages to units and staff as requested.
o To facilitate and encourage prayers at meals.
o To promote and encourage respect and tolerance for all faiths.
o To submit reports of activities to the Northern Star Council’s Protestant Committee and others as requested.
o To assist with other duties as assigned in order to advance the purpose of the camping program. These duties may not interfere with the Chaplain’s primary duties.
