Terence E. Fretheim Elva B. Lovell Professor of Old Testament Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN
God has freely chosen to enter into a close relationship with the creation. Creatures in relationship with this kind of God have been given genuine power (Gen 1:28). God so honors the relationship and is unchangeably faithful to promises made that God will be self-limiting in the exercise of power. One effect of such a power-sharing move is that no “quick fix” with respect to the world’s violence is available, even for God.
RSVP luncheon to follow ($10.00)
