UNITED THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY OF THE TWIN CITIES 3000 FIFTH STREET NORTHWEST NEW BRIGHTON MN 55112 WWW.UNITEDSEMINARY.EDU MINISTRY IN A 2.0 WORLD: FACEBOOK, TWITTER, AND THE CHURCH Tuesday, December 1, 1:30-4:30 PM The way in which the world interacts and develops community is changing rapidly with the rise of new forms of social media. This class will address the implications of social media on the church and ministry. We will begin with basic information about how to use Facebook and Twitter with integrity. Concrete ideas and suggestions will be offered about how these new types of social media, and others, can assist in: doing ministry more effectively, reaching out to new members, and meeting the needs of youth while remaining faithful to our core values and beliefs. Also touched on will be the new barriers that this technological world embodies. Lauren Busey is a recent graduate of United who is interested in seeking the connection between the church and popular culture. She is currently integrating technology in her role as director of faith formation at Trinity Lutheran Church in Evanston, Ill.
