First Congregational Church (firstcongoappleton.org) is a 1600+ pastor member progressive congregation seeking an Associate Pastor to lead spiritual outreach and ministry to Senior High youth and young adults. Founded in 1850, “First Congo” is an open and welcoming congregation committed to presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ through tolerance, justice and love. The church is located in Appleton WI, the hub of Wisconsin's 225,000-person Fox Valley, and a nationally acclaimed community that is home to Lawrence University.
First Congo seeks a person committed to work with youth and young adults who has strong relational skills in leadership, organization and discipleship, and who will partner with our two current pastors to challenge and lead our church to continue as a welcoming spiritual home for people in our community. The successful candidate will build upon and strengthen a Senior High youth ministry as part of the current, active youth program with about 180 K-12 participants each week. While the position focuses on high school youth ministry, it includes empowering ministry to young adults and helping to guide the congregation's efforts in spiritual outreach to those in the community with no church home.
Support for UCC theology and commitment to open and accepting ministry are essential. Educational requirements include an M. Div. or Masters in Christian Education. Also required is ordination in the UCC or being a candidate for ordination with privilege of call in the UCC.
Interested candidates can apply be sending resumes to FCCAppletonSearch@ymarchitects.com
