Intergenerational Mission Trip
July 24-30, 2010
Travel to the Pine Ridge Reservation in SD for a week full of culture and service. 6-12 year olds will have "Indian Summer School" while teens and adults work.
Costs are $350/adults and teens, $150/children, + travel expenses.
Space is filling up fast, contact Bridget in the church office this month.
Dear Liisa
Susan Stein, of the Silver Spring Neighborhood Center, wrote in today's Journal Sentinel of the on-going impact of the recession on our city. In a similar vein, Don Peck of The Atlantic Monthly writes of the long last effects this recession will have on our communities. Both point to the way people continue to hurt even as the broader economy shows signs of recovery.
The Justice Witness Ministries of the United Church of Christ are asking people to contact elected officials regarding the extension of unemployment benefits. They note, "Failure to act will have a swift and devastating impact. In March alone, failure to extend UI would mean that 1 million workers/families would be without income. UI benefits pay for basic necessities such as food, housing, electricity and heat. Letting these benefits lapse could contribute directly to another wave of increased foreclosures, which would stall the economic recovery."
I care about this issue because there are people in our church and throughout our community who depend or have depended on these benefits. Please join me in sending a note to our elected officials regarding unemployment benefits. Either call your representative or visit the UCC to send one electronically.
Yours in Faith,
Andrew Warner

Plymouth hosts the peer mentors from Pathfinders Homeless Youth Shelter two Tuesdays a month. We provide a dinner; Pathfinders staff takes care of the programing. If you can help provide a meal please contact Andrew Warner.
Take Caution:
We are sad to report that twice in the last month church members have had money stolen from their purses while they were unattended. You may also recall that last year items were stolen from someone's coat pockets in the cloak room. Please keep your valuables with you, or perhaps lock them in your trunk if you are unable to keep them with you because of working Coffee Hour, being in the choir, etc.
